Temple Adat Shalom Background

Temple Adat Shalom ("Community of Peace") is the Reform Synagogue serving the North County Inland area of San Diego. 40 families formed the Temple in 1974. It moved to its current site in Poway, CA in 1980. The current Temple building was completed in 1988.

In 1999, at over 600 families, TAS had exceeded the design capacity of the current building, and the sanctuary had not been constructed. Thus, a plan to build a sanctuary and expand other facilities was approved by the Temple membership, and the Sanctuary 2000 Building Campaign began with $1 million dollar "Challenge Grant". Construction is scheduled to begin in 2003.
