About This Digital Version
The original digital version of The Impact of the Frontier On a Jewish Family: The Bibos, was created in February 1999. Optical Character Recognition (OCR) scanning, using Caere's OmniPage Limited Edition software, was used to create an electronic file of the print version. The OCR version was spell-checked in MS Word and proof read twice. It was then marked up in HTML and added to the Southwest Jewish Archives website. The SWJA website design has been revised four times since the 1990s and this version of Floyd Fierman's book was added on July 2, 2012. Some revisions and changes were made to the HTML to accommodate the latest design.
A format replicating the print version as closely as possible was attempted to maintain the intellectual organization presented by Floyd S. Fierman in 1988.
Readers will find numerous spelling errors throughout the text. These are attributed to spelling errors made in the original documents (e.g. letters written by Simon Bibo to various and sundry officials). For the most part, Fierman did not note them with the [sic] notation. If you find an misspelling that you believe may be the result of faulty proof reading after the OCR scanning and conversion to HTML, please note its location in an e-mail message and send it to the Through Our Parents' Eyes mailbox. It will be corrected immediately.
